Bamboo House in Ridgewood

Rude lady owner. Tolerated her in the past but no longer. Curbside pick-up not possible. She doesn’t have anyone working the front desk except herself. Food quality is inconsistent, good on some days and unacceptable on others. That plus the lack of care and respect from the owner towards customers makes other places seem more desirable. Go to Truly Sichuan 2 blocks away instead - nice owners who appreciate your business.

Sherry is great. The food is outstanding. I never order from the menu. She always recommends something different.

Dont call if they are busy very rude and poor customer service, the lady on the phone said they don’t delivery to my town (I live 7 mins away) and hangs up then I call back n I ask why she hung up, her response was “ma’am are u calling to complaint or are u gonna order”?. I like to support my local businesses but this one will NOT be one of them!!

Delicious Chinese food. Healthier than normal Chinese places while holding true to the flavors you want. I absolutely love the mama's dumplings, it comes with a lot. And I get the peanut sauce to eat with some of them also. This place will satisfy without making you feel bad!

Sherry and her staff serve up the best meal you can get without you cooking it yourself. Ever since a friend recommended Bamboo House, I have only eaten there. There is plenty of good food that after dinner you will have a lunch the next day. If you can wait that long. Thank you Sherry.

Hey Vegetarians, Sherry makes THE SINGLE BEST hot and sour soup you will EVER eat. Back when i ate meat i tried hot and sour soup many times at places across the tristate. I never really likes it. Last night i was back in Ridgewood visiting family and asked Sherry if any soups were vegetarian. She recommended Hot and Sour. I couldn't believe how delicious it was. I went back the next night for more.

Food is so good here. Take out only.

I love this place. Ambiance is not the reason. The food is. Wonderful warm little place. They asked me first time I was there for how hot I wanted it 1-10. I told her 14. They tried really hard. Offered to marinate the meat next time if I called early. THAT was a hot dish! Love the place!

I have been going to this place for a while and the food has been good today 5-5-20I went on my lunch time and knocked on door had mask 😷 as required by law in this time of this pandemic. First the owner told me no lunch special I said ok no problem then she told me that there was a 20% hike on food price Talk about price gouging This is not acceptable none of local business around the area have done this I am outraged this type of behavior should not be tolerated by consumers First you should be happy that clients are going to your establishment and helping you in these hard timesSecond I wondered how fresh this food is because I am sure if you are asking all clients for a 20% hike you have tons of people walking out on you

If I can give this place 0 stars I would. I’ve never been to this place and I wanted to try it out for lunch today so I called and they were very rude, the lady on the phone said they don’t deliver ( this place is in my town and 5mins away) and hangs up. Delicious food. The place itself is small so it's more suited for take out or delivery. A little pricey but worth it. Best Lo Mein I've ever had and the Mom's Dumplings are awesome.

I been coming here since high school 1999 and still love it. I feel like they just keep getting better. Also a bit of a pricey place but the amount of food you get in return is a good deal.

Fantastic. Delicious authentic food served with real passion - loved talking to Sherry who gave great recommendations and told us some heartwarming stories. Favourite place to eat in the two weeks we spent in Ridgewood.

The atmosphere screams "family-run, " and that it is. The food overall is quite good; but if you want to know the best item(s) I've tried are the Wonton soup, and especially "Mom's Dumplings, " Do. Not. Miss. These. Pork Dumplings, some of the best I've had. The restaurant is very small so no parties of 10. Two or four people at a table. Just come and eat, or get it to go. Thank me later.

So we were sick and tired of paying good money for bad food and decided to look for a place with a better rating. Mind you this other place is highly rated but I felt it left something to be desired. We went all out and bought 7 items off the menu so we could try a little bit of everything. I can assure you this place is LIT!! I don't even know where to begin it's all so fantastic! The chips are light and Airy and the sauce with the fried dumplings is divine. The sesame chicken and moo shu chicken, also very good. Both Soups were fabulous. Even the pork in the lo mein is tender and thinly cut, all of the meat is high quality, there is no questioning what you might really be chewing on. The only recommendation I would make is extra sauce if you're getting the General Tso's chicken. This is true high quality Chinese at its best!

Best Chinese food in Bergen County. I drive 30 minutes to get it, fresh and huge quantities

Waited for 1.5 hours for my food to be delivered, over priced and not tasty. Sesame chicken extremely dry and so was the baby shrimp. Will not order again.

This place is amazing!! Sherry, the owner, had a sparkling personality and she adds to the ambiance. On this visitI now have a place that will visit for years to come.

This is the best Chinese food in town. The prices may seem a little high but they’re really not; it’s because her portions are literally twice the size of a normal portion.We recently ordered two orders of beef lo mein and it tooks us three days to finish them. Best lo mein I’ve tried by the way. Most importantly, the quality of her ingredients is better than I’ve tried anywhere else. And the flavors in her dishes are amazing.We highly recommend this place.

Having spent a fair amount of time in Taiwan, Sherry's food is authentic and amazing for here in the U.S. You have to get the beef lo mein, and don't forget her Mom's pork and chive dumplings. GOOD STUFF!!!

Visited from California. Best home made dumplings, definitely one of the best egg fooyoungs. Small unassuming restaurant but the food is better than any Chinese restaurant in SF or OC. Sherry (owner) is the mostly friendly host. Would definitely recommend this place.

"Sherry's House", AKA: Bamboo House, is incredible! The best Chinese food around!My family and I have been coming here for a few years and it's always delicious. The pork dumplings, with her special peanut sauce is incredible (I love the dumplings fried or steamed, either way is great).My favorite dish is the ginger chicken with string beans. She often has different specials as well, or can just recommend something great based on what you enjoy to eat. Eg: if you're craving something with Shrimp, she may suggest a delicious shrimp & lobster dish, which was a new dish for me to to try. Bamboo House is small, but always hopping with all of their orders -which is to no surprise since it's high quality and consistent every time. Thank you!!

Always a warm smile from the owner. Great service. Fresh food. If you eat at Bamboo House. BYOB is allowed. Great wine and beer shops in Ridgewood next door and down the street. Finish up with dessert at Sook Pastry next door.

Many fresh ingredients and home-made with care. You can see them cutting up the fresh broccoli and snow peas and making the dumplings from scratch with higher quality meat, fresh scallions, etc. There is a love and respect for the food here that you don't notice at your run-of-the-mill Chinese takeout restaurant.

Excellent excellent EXCELLENT authentic Chinese cuisine. Been here over thirty years. Im a big fan of chinese food, Ive tried so many places and Bamboo House stands alone. There are always unique and delicious specials. Enjoy!

A favorite place for 20+ years. Great old-fashioned traditional chinese restaurant food, wide selections and consistent high quality. The owner has run restaurants for 36 yrs and it shows!Affordable and yummy!

This place is outrageously priced.

On a rating of 1 to 10 I rate this place a 2. I have tried this place many many times and have only found one or two dishes that were good. Every town has places like this. The place is tiny and NOT sanitary. I often see the owner sitting out front making dumplings with out any gloves on at one of the three or four customer tables. I've seen tables covered with fresh vegetables and flies on them late in the afternoon. I've seen a cook handling raw chicken in the back come out to ring up a customer at the register without removing his gloves Think twice about this place and the people that rave about it have no idea what hi end Chinese is all about. In actuality her dumplings are good. Crazy place. Like the other reviewer said the owner is crazy often out in front of the restaurant chain smoking cigarettes.

This place serves simply high quality, excellent tasting chinese food. There are a ton of bad chinese food places out there, this place is the other end of the scale. Sherry is an absolute sweet heart and she puts her soul into serving the best. Chicken chow fun, pepper steak, fried rice, its all amazing.

Was so looking forward to a good Chinese meal and read the ratings and felt this would be a very nice place to try. Walked in and greeted warmly. Told the food will take 30 minutes to prepare happy to find out it only took 15 minutes but unfortunately the food was inedible. We had the general chow chicken and the sesame chicken as well as mamas dumplings all this was very bland and cost $50 in food was so bad we popped popcorn instead And tried to feed the food to the dog who would have none of it please note this dog will eat anything Would not and could not recommend this to anyone
